If you’re looking for Qigong in Surrey, you’re definitely in the right place. I’m delighted you’ve found your way here.
But first, a big warm welcome to Surrey Hills Qigong which is a place for gentle movement, everyday healing, and a nature-led way of being.
What is Qigong?
Qigong or Chi Kung (pronounced ‘chee gong’ ) is the art of energy cultivation. A gentle flowing practice of breath, mindful movement and stillness.
Rooted in ancient Chinese wisdom, it helps your body soften and your mind settle – restoring calm, clarity and flow.
Moving softly like water, breathing with awareness, you’ll feel more grounded, revitalised and deeply connected. It’s like a breath of fresh air for your whole being.
If you enjoy mindful movement, meditation, yin yoga, somatic work, or simply walking in nature, you’ll love it. Qigong feels like coming home.

What others say about my Qigong classes and retreats …

“I always feel relaxed but incredibly energised when I’ve left Qigong. I also feel very peaceful and that I’ve done something quite powerful. It’s a very subtle paradox.
I would definitely recommend it … I’m completely hooked. I would say give it a go, be open-minded and come more than once.”
Sue D.

“I just wanted to take a moment to say how much I enjoyed my first ever Qigong experience with you. I’m sure I was spoilt with having the most beautiful place to practice, along with such an engaging teacher.
Your passion for Qigong is infectious and the way you explained the movements made it easy for a complete novice like me to join in from the get-go. Thank you so much!“
Emma

“That was absolutely lovely. I’ve never done anything like that before and I feel so grounded, so relaxed and yet somehow so much more alive. It’s amazing. And I loved the way you described everything – being able to picture it all made it so easy to get into the the flow of it. And your voice! I could listen to that all day. Thank you. I’ll definitely be back.”
Sally T.

“I had a truly wonderful morning experiencing Qigong with Sue and sound bathing with Nikki at Kilnhanger in Farley Green. The beautiful studio provided a serene backdrop, enhancing the relaxing atmosphere.
Sue’s guidance during Qigong was inspiring, and Nikki’s sound bath was profoundly soothing. I left feeling rejuvenated and deeply connected. I would highly recommend this experience!”

“Thank you both for such a wonderfully inspiring Qi Gong and Feng Shui workshop on Friday. You created such a welcoming and uplifting atmosphere, and I really appreciated how accessible and enjoyable you made both practices, especially as it was my first experience of them.
It was also lovely to connect with other women in business and share ideas and inspiration in such a supportive space. I left feeling grounded, relaxed and deeply inspired, and have already started incorporating some of the Qi Gong and Feng Shui techniques into my days.”

About Sue

I’m Sue Llewellyn, a former BBC journalist and communications consultant now teaching Qigong in Surrey and the beautiful Surrey Hills area.
After years in a fast-paced newsroom, I burned out. My body was exhausted, my mind overwhelmed.
Qigong became the turning point – a practice that helped me soften, ground and return to myself.
Practicing outdoors in the Surrey Hills, I felt a quiet shift – a softness, a steadiness, a kind of homecoming. To myself and to a deeper rhythm of life.
Now I help others experience that same shift.
You don’t need to be fit, flexible or spiritual – simply open to slowing down, breathing deeply and moving with awareness
I’m a 500-hour certified Qigong instructor and have been training for over five years with respected teachers, including my wise and generous mentor Mimi Kuo-Deemer.
I continue to be inspired by many others including Kenneth Cohen, Stephanie Nosco, John Munro and Lindsey Wei.
Today I guide gentle, welcoming classes – indoors, outdoors and online – to help people feel more grounded, energised and connected.
Many of those I work with are juggling busy lives, midlife change or a sense of having lost touch with themselves. Qigong offers a warm, simple way to return.
Whether you’re brand new or returning to your practice, and especially if you live anywhere near Godalming or Guildford or other villages in the Surrey Hills, you are warmly welcome.
Let’s move softly, breathe deeply, and reconnect with what really matters.
Join me and discover the quiet magic of Qigong in Surrey.
With love & Qi,

FAQ
Qigong (also spelled Chi Kung) is pronounced “chee-gong.” It means ‘energy cultivation’. “Qi” is life energy and “Gong” means skill or practice. And like any skill, it improves with regular practice.
Qigong is an embodied somatic practice. It’s a gentle, flowing practice that blends breath, movement, and awareness. It’s easier than yoga or Tai Chi and is more active than traditional seated meditation.
Think of it as meditation in motion.
Qigong is like the grandmother of Tai Chi — older, simpler, and easier to learn. Tai Chi is a martial art with choreographed sequences. Qigong is more intuitive, like a free-flowing conversation with your breath and body.
Yes. Qigong is one of the five pillars of Traditional Chinese Medicine, alongside acupuncture, herbal medicine and massage. It’s a movement-based practice that helps your energy (Qi) flow smoothly to support health and balance.
Yes. Research shows Qigong supports stress reduction, better sleep, pain relief, and emotional well-being. Studies also suggest it boosts immune function and enhances quality of life. It’s widely recognised as a safe, evidence-based practice for holistic health.
Not at all. Qigong is for all ages and abilities. Movements are slow, simple, and can be adapted to suit you. You can practice standing or seated. Just go at your own pace.
Wear comfortable clothes you can move in. No special equipment needed — we usually practise in bare feet or socks. Bring water and a mat or towel if you’d like to sit or lie down when we’re outside.
Even 10–15 minutes a day can make a real difference. Many people feel benefits after one session. It’s about consistency, not intensity.
In my Qigong classes I’ll guide you through breathwork, slow movement, and stillness. It’s calming, clear, and beginner-friendly. You’ll leave feeling more grounded, relaxed, and energised.
Yes. Qigong is great for dealing with stress. It calms your nervous system, slows racing thoughts, and helps you feel more relaxed, centred and grounded. It’s especially helpful if you’re dealing with stress, anxiety, or burnout.
Most people feel a shift after just one session of Qigong. They feel calmer, clearer, more connected. With regular practice, the effects build steadily over time.
Yes, within reason. Qigong is low-impact and can be adapted. If you’ve had recent surgery or live with a condition like joint replacements, a pacemaker, or high blood pressure – check with your doctor or instructor first.
No. Qigong is about practice, not belief. You don’t need to subscribe to any tradition. It meets you where you are – no dogma, no pressure.
I’ve been studying for over five years and am a 300-hour certified Qigong instructor. I’ve trained in traditional and modern approaches to movement, breathwork and energy awareness by some great teachers including my mentor Mimi Kuo-Deemer, John Munro of Long White Cloud Qigong. I’ve also read widely and attended numerous courses and workshops led by Kenneth Cohen, Stephanie Nosco, Lindsey Wei, Marisa Cranfill, Matthew Cohen and Lee Holden.
My energy work training started over 20 years ago when I completed Reiki 1 and 2 and followed this up with a two-year Healing Diploma at the Harry Edwards Healing Foundation in Surrey.
I also bring lived experience. This is a practice I return to daily and teaching what I know works, especially for busy ‘women of a certain age’- like me 😊
