Qigong (pronounced ‘chee gong’) is the art of energy cultivation. A gentle dance of breath, mindful movement and stillness.
Rooted in ancient Chinese wisdom, it’s a practice that helps you return to yourself — to calm, clarity and flow.
Moving like water, breathing with awareness, you’ll feel more grounded, revitalised and deeply connected. It’s like a breath of fresh air for your whole being.
And if you’re drawn to meditation, yin yoga or somatic work, you’ll love it. Qigong feels like coming home.

‘Qigong is like a great river, flowing from the mythic past to the present — fed by three streams: healing, spirituality, and movement.”

What Others say…

“I always feel relaxed but incredibly energised when I’ve left Qigong. I also feel very peaceful and that I’ve done something quite powerful. It’s a very subtle paradox.
I would definitely recommend it … I’m completely hooked. I would say give it a go, be open-minded and come more than once.”

“I just wanted to take a moment to say how much I enjoyed my first ever Qigong experience with you. I’m sure I was spoilt with having the most beautiful place to practice, along with such an engaging teacher.
Your passion for Qigong is infectious and the way you explained the movements made it easy for a complete novice like me to join in from the get-go. Thank you so much!“
Emma

“I had a truly wonderful morning experiencing Qigong with Sue and sound bathing with Nicky at Kilnhanger in Farley Green. The beautiful studio provided a serene backdrop, enhancing the relaxing atmosphere.
Sue’s guidance during Qigong was inspiring, and Nicki’s sound bath was profoundly soothing. I left feeling rejuvenated and deeply connected. I would highly recommend this experience!”

About Sue

I’m Sue – a former BBC journalist and communications consultant, now sharing the ancient practice of Qigong in the beautiful Surrey Hills.
It’s a far cry from the high-pressure world of news. After 15 years of long shifts, tight deadlines and tough stories, I burned out. That moment set me on a healing journey – through yoga, Reiki, gut healing – until, during lockdown, I discovered Qigong. And everything changed.
This nature-based, mind-body-breath practice felt like the missing piece I’d been searching for. A kind of homecoming – to breath, to body, and to a deeper rhythm of life. You don’t need to be fit, flexible or spiritual — just open to slowing down, breathing deeply and moving with awareness.
I’m a certified Qigong instructor and have been training for five years with respected teachers, including my wise and generous mentor Mimi Kuo-Deemer. I continue to be inspired by many others including Ken Cohen, Stephanie Nosco and John Munro.
Today I guide gentle, welcoming classes – outdoors and online – to help people feel more grounded, energised and connected. Many of those I work with are juggling busy lives or navigating big transitions – work, family, health, or simply the sense of having lost touch with themselves.
Whether you’re brand new to Qigong or returning to your practice, you are warmly welcome.
Let’s move softly, breathe deeply, and reconnect with what really matters.
Join me and discover the quiet magic of Qigong.
With love & Qi,

FAQ
Qigong (also spelled Chi Kung) is pronounced “chee-gong.” It means ‘energy cultivation’. “Qi” is life energy and “Gong” means skill or practice. Like any skill, it improves with regular practice.
Qigong is a gentle, flowing practice that blends breath, movement, and awareness. It’s easier body than yoga (no complex poses) and more active than traditional seated meditation. Think of it as meditation in motion.
Qigong is like the grandmother of Tai Chi — older, simpler, and easier to learn. Tai Chi is a martial art with choreographed sequences. Qigong is more intuitive, like a free-flowing conversation with your breath and body.
Yes. Qigong is one of the five pillars of Traditional Chinese Medicine, alongside acupuncture, herbal medicine and massage. It’s a movement-based practice that helps your energy (Qi) flow smoothly to support health and balance.
Yes. Research shows Qigong supports stress reduction, better sleep, pain relief, and emotional well-being. Studies also suggest it boosts immune function and enhances quality of life. It’s widely recognised as a safe, evidence-based practice for holistic health.
Not at all. Qigong is for all ages and abilities. Movements are slow, simple, and can be adapted to suit you. You can practice standing or seated. Just go at your own pace.
Wear comfortable clothes you can move in. No special equipment needed — we usually practise in bare feet or socks. Bring water and a mat or towel if you’d like to sit or lie down when we’re outside.
Even 10–15 minutes a day can make a real difference. Many people feel benefits after one session. It’s about consistency, not intensity.
You’ll be guided through breathwork, slow movement, and stillness. It’s calming, clear, and beginner-friendly. You’ll leave feeling more grounded, relaxed, and energised.
Yes. Qigong calms your nervous system, slows racing thoughts, and helps you feel more centred. It’s especially supportive if you’re dealing with stress, anxiety, or burnout.
Most people feel a shift after just one session — calmer, clearer, more connected. With regular practice, the effects build steadily over time.
Yes, within reason. Qigong is low-impact and can be adapted. If you’ve had recent surgery or live with a condition like joint replacements, a pacemaker, or high blood pressure – check with your doctor or instructor first.
No. Qigong is about practice, not belief. You don’t need to subscribe to any tradition. It meets you where you are — no dogma, no pressure.
I’ve been studying for five years and am a 300-hour certified Qigong instructor. I’ve trained in traditional and modern approaches to movement, breathwork and energy awareness by some great teachers including my mentor Mimi Kuo-Deemer, John Munro of Long White Cloud Qigong. I’ve also read widely and attended numerous courses and workshops led by Kenneth Cohen, Stephanie Nosco, Marisa Cranfill, Matthew Cohen and Lee Holden.
My energy work training also includes Reiki 1 & 2 and a two-year Spiritual Healing training at the Harry Edwards Foundation.
I also bring lived experience. This is a practice I return to daily and teaching what I know works, especially for busy ‘women of a certain age’- like me 😊
